It all started with our mindmaps.

The mindmaps we produced enabled us to identify the key points concerning the market of application. We are aware that with the current technological developments we can give new perspectives to wine growing, especially in order to help wine growers to improve the quality of their soil. Adapting recent technologies such as augmented reality and regrouping crucial information that allows an excellent use within the same application is therefore the most judicious choice.

Technologies

In order to develop our application, we used several tools, which were of big help.

Wireframes

We first created wireframes. Our wireframes were designed by us, and we tried to define the main features of our app. It helped us to have an overview of the app, without taking into account any visual or desig aspect. This wireframe is the first version of the app. The final design was a lot modified, but the main functions have basically not changed.

Mockups

Then, we created mockups. We decided for this step to work in a way that everyone could give his oppinion. After all, that is the purpose of a team, isn't it?
So, every member of the team tried to bring his personnal touch for the design: colours, new features, logo, etc... Everyhting was created so that it represents us.

User tests

Who are our targets ?

We did tests with potential users in order to improve our application. We reached out to four people to test our application, in order to have an outside and professional opinion. The first one is a sales manager in a wine estate, whereas the second is a web developer and the third one is a student in her second year of masters in Wine Management at Kedge (she's also the daughter of Mathieu Bordes, in charge of "Chateau Lagrange" Domain). And finally the fourth one is the owner of a wine estate in Libourne.

As you can see, our testers are very diverse which was beneficial for us to have different point of views. According to the experience, the age, the career, etc. they helped us make the application more intuitive.

Which information did we collect?

It depends on the tester.

The first one liked the concept of the application and gave us a constructive feedback. The positive one is about how interesting WineUp can be for a daily use thanks to its daily "tips". And since this tester is a sales manager, he mainly gave us advices about thow to target the users and how to make the icons more more attrative to the them.

The second one was more fond of the design and the logos and found the application overall very instinctive. And as a web developer, he wasn't a big fan of the colors of the application ( he suggested to use a color more reminding of wine). He also mentioned that he would not specifically use the calendar of the application, but insisted that it's his own preferences.

The third one highlighted the importance of the probes and how they can help you make a valuable decision about soil quality and about determining the best moment to carry out the harvest. And since she's a student specialised in this field, she gave us some technical advices to make it more comprehensible immediately ( specifiy wether it's the humidity of the soil or the air). Plus, in order to facilitate the use of the application, in the feature Notification, it's good to be warned to recharge the battery of a numbered probe.

Lastly, the fourth one found the application friendly. As a professional, specialized in terroir and owner of a wine estate, she admitted that this digital transformation will indeed save time and / or money compared to the workforce. She gave us suggestions about differenciating between the probes of red wine from the white ones, and she pointed out certain buttons that she would have prefered to be functional.

We have taken into consideration these advices and it was a big help in WineUp's development and practicality.
